Our boxes and paper are handmade in Nepal, primarily by women, according to traditional methods from the sustainable pruning and trimming of the lokta bush. Lokta is only found above 6500 ft. in the Himalayan mountains. Gathering the trimmings of raw lokta is a cottage industry, which employs many men and women and helps to improve the standard of living in the impoverished rural areas of Nepal. The paper is of fine texture, strong, and very versatile. It will last for centuries. The boxes and paper are Tree-Free and Fair Trade. The Nepalese Paper Company donates a portion of every sale to SEEDS, a grassroots non-profit, that provides relief to Nepal’s poorest rural villages.
