Jojoba oil is actually not an oil but the liquid wax produced in the seed of the jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) plant, a shrub native to southern Arizona southern California, and northwestern Mexico.
Unrefined jojoba oil appears as a clear golden liquid that has a similar composition to human sebum, or natural skin oil. It penetrates the skin rapidly and is very nourishing to the skin. It softens and moisturizes dry skin and is known for its healing properties. It is especially useful for inflamed skin conditions such as psoriasis and acne. Jojoba oil has antioxidant properties and has a long shelf life and does not go rancid.
