Flu Season Protection

Must going through short- and long-term bouts of illness be a mathematical certainty of being alive in this incredibly biologically diverse world? Some experts believe that illness caused by pathogens could be dramatically reduced with clever and well thought out strategies. Studies show that most people humans succumb to the flu, colds, and more serious infections because of airborne particles and microorganisms that reside on different items we come into contact with daily.

The Center for Disease Control believes that infections spread by tiny droplets that form when someone infected sneezes, coughs, or even talks. These droplets land in the nose, mouths, on hands, and clothes of people. (1) While living in a bubble would lead to a severely weakened and susceptible immune system, taking precautions in today’s toxic world will go a long way to decrease the threats we’re bombarded with on a perpetual basis. Common items that are extremely dense in nasty critters include wallets, purses, cellphones, steering wheels, doorknobs, sink faucet handles, sponges, office mugs and coffee pots, remote controls, computer keys, money, stove knobs, and even laundry AFTER it’s been washed.

One study revealed that kitchen sponges are more saturated with germ colonies than the toilet! The good news is that it’s possible to make it much more difficult for these unfriendly microorganisms to get inside our bodies. Wiping all of these surfaces with antimicrobial blends and purifying the air on a semi-daily or even weekly basis can be extremely helpful for minimizing the number of pathogens within your vicinity. With all the news about the Coronavirus, upping the level of internal and external protection is important.

On February 26th, the CDC warned of another documented case of the Coronavirus in the United States, which brings the tally up to 60 diagnosed cases in a short time. Health officials expect this to spread exponentially within a very short window of time. (2)

It’s important not to feel fearful about this, especially since worry, fear, stress, and other types of emotions strongly weaken the immune system’s ability to fight infections. Every few years, we hear hysteria all over the news about new strains that have made their way from nation to nation, causing much destruction in their path. While there may be some debate of the validity of some of these threats, the Coronavirus has allegedly claimed many lives in China and has spread to other countries.

Essential oils are powerful extracts that can provide an amazing form of external shielding. Many experts consider essential oils at the top of the list of the most powerful natural anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-protozoal, antimicrobial compounds in the world. Time and time again, essential oils such as thyme, cinnamon, tea tree, clove, lemon, oregano, eucalyptus, lemongrass, myrrh, helichrysum, and others have shined in clinical settings at destroying all types of toxic microorganisms. (3-6) Even strains that were easily able to resist antibiotics and other treatments routinely succumb to the power of certain oils and blends. A single drop of essential oil contains an unbelievably high amount of tiny, potent molecules that make it nearly impossible for pathogens to build defenses against. These compounds quickly go to work at destroying different components of microorganisms.

Our Thieves Protection essential oil blend contains some of the most powerful essential oils to help you combat a wide range of potential offenders. When used topically, aromatically, on items mentioned, and in an ultrasonic diffuser, the ingredients can help to weaken and destroy trillions of pathogenic organisms in our immediate surroundings. While internal supplements such as vitamin C, oregano extracts, zinc, olive leaf extract, colostrum, vitamin D3, medicinal mushrooms, lomatium root, iodine, echinacea, sambucol, echinacea, thymus extracts, myrrh tincture, and others help provide some protection from infectious organisms that find their way into the body, our Protection Blend may help to significantly decrease the number of pathogenic organisms that can potentially infect the body.

Some of the ingredients in our Protection Blend include:

Organic Clove Essential Oil

Pure clove essential oil is one of the most potent anti-pathogenic, anti-microbial substances in the world. One study showed that clove essential oil was able to destroy seven gram-negative and nine gram-positive pathogenic bacteria strains. (7) Other testing showed strong activity against many different fungal, bacterial, viral, protozoan strains such as herpes simplex virus, Campylobacter jejuni, E. Coli, hepatitis C, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus suis, Listeria monocytogenes Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella enteritidis, Bacillus cereus, Candida acutus, C. albicans, C. apicola, C. catenulata. C. inconspicua, C. tropicalis, Rhodotorula rubra, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and Trigonopsis variabilis, Aspergillus and dermatophyte species, Porphyromonas gingivalis, Fusobacterium nucleatum, and Enterococcus faecalis. While some of the names of these pathogens aren’t well known, their effect on human beings is very real and very serious. (8-10)

Cinnamon Essential Oil

Like clove oil, cinnamon essential oil always shines bright in clinical research for its pathogenic destroying power. A study of 11 different essential oils showed that cinnamon was the strongest at killing various types of pathogenic microbes such as Aeromonas veronii, Acinetobacter johnsonii, Shewanella putrefaciens, and Pseudomonas jessenii. (11) Another powerful piece of research compared 21 essential oils, each one powerful in their own right. Once again, cinnamon oil was at the top of the list (clove oil as well) for strongest gram positive and negative bacteria killers. E. coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, Providencia stuartii, P. aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Enterobacter cloacae, L. monocytogenes, Cronobacter sakazakii and C. malonaticus, Salmonella enterica, and many other strains were inhibited or destroyed with cinnamon oil. All of these different microorganisms are prominent offenders and can wreak havoc in the body long after infection symptoms are cleared. (12-14)

Thyme Essential Oil

Thyme oil ranks as one of the most powerful pathogen destroyers with its high content of thymol, carvacrol, linalool, p-cymene, and other compounds that overpower the resistance of many different offenders. One study compared 14 essential oils against Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus, and E. coli. The three most powerful oils of the bunch were cinnamon, thyme, and lemongrass essential oils. Another study tested the activity of several essential oils against over a dozen of pathogenic organisms like E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, and Vibrio Clostridium botulinum and Clostridium perfringens, S. typhimurium, L. monocytogenes, Shigella sonnei, Sarcina lutea, and Micrococcus flavus. Thyme and clove came out as the most powerful killers out of the oils tested. The same research also discovered that thyme essential oil was one of the most potent fungal inhibitors. (15-17)

Eucalyptus and lemon oils make up the rest of our Protection Blend formula. These two oils also help to fight different toxic pathogens. We choose these specific ingredients for their versatility in fighting some of the most toxic pathogens in the world. When it comes to infections, prevention is worth its weight in gold. There are numerous ways that our Protection Blend can be easily incorporated into your daily or weekly routine to help wipe out potentially hazardous compounds that are aggressively lurking and searching for an ideal home.
